Do good for Cleveland

It starts with you

Where sewing meets opportunity

Open Threads trains and empowers Cleveland community members in the sewing trade. This grows avenues of economic opportunity while offering a space to learn, connect, and improve sustainability within the local textile industry.

Since 2012, we have enabled employment opportunities in the sewing trade, growing positive environmental impact, and educating within textile art spaces at a nationally recognized capacity.

Community

We take pride in our programs’ accessibility and focus on inclusion and diversity.

Opportunity

Open Threads exists as a community resource in the Cleveland area, threading a network of social services, employers, neighbors, and structural support in its programs for anyone.

Sustainability

Recognizing the fashion industry’s impact on the environment and setting a better example is a core tenet of our business practices.

A local collective of unique textile artisans

Beginning as an economic resource for people in the Cleveland area, Open Threads has grown into a space welcoming all people under one roof. We believe in the power of skill sharing, building community, and connecting opportunities for anyone and everyone.

a local and ethical network

Working with small businesses and nonprofit organizations in Ohio we are able keep production sustainable, supporting a hyper-local economy.

Bridging an ethical and conscious fashion network

Working with artists, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations in the Rust Belt Fibershed, we can keep textiles sustainable. Supporting a hyper-local ecosystem of agriculture, production, and community practice is the future and we're threading it. We are dedicated to illuminating the processes and solutions in ethical textile manufacture.
